2004 Models

Dodge’s shorter minivan comes in three trim levels — two passenger and one cargo — and with a four-cylinder or V-6 engine. New Dodge minivans will debut during 2004, as 2005 models. Dodge also offers the longer-wheelbase Grand Caravan.

More midsize than compact in dimensions, the Dodge Dakota comes with a new V-6 or a V-8 engine and offers the choice of three cab styles. Dakotas come in six trim levels and with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Larger than its 1998 - 2003 predecessor and sporting a decidedly different look, the redesigned Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle has moved up a notch in dimensions and into the full-size realm. Engine choices now include DaimlerChrysler’s Hemi V-8, as well as a smaller V-8 and V-6.

Built on an extended-length wheelbase, Dodge’s larger minivan comes with a choice of two V-6 engines. The regular Caravan rides a shorter wheelbase. Dodge will redesign its minivans and add fold-away second- and third-row seats for 2005.

Like the related Chrysler Concorde, Dodge’s full-size front-wheel-drive Intrepid sedan is in its final season. Three V-6 engines are available. A new Magnum wagon, equipped with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, replaces the Intrepid for the 2005 model year.

Competing against such compact rivals as the Honda Civic, the smallest Dodge sedan comes in regular and sporty R/T forms and is equipped with either a 132-horsepower or a 150-hp engine. A variety of options lets the Neon owner personalize his or her vehicle.

Available in half-ton, three-quarter-ton and one-ton capacities, Dodge’s full-size pickups continue to have the unmistakable look of ruggedness. Light-duty 1500 models were redesigned for 2002, and 2500/3500 trucks followed in 2003. A brand-new Ram SRT-10 that packs a 500-hp Viper V-10 engine joins the lineup for 2004.

Originally a Freightliner product, the full-size Sprinter van adopted a Dodge badge early in 2003. Passenger- and cargo-carrying models are offered, as well as a choice of roof heights. Freightliner Sprinters also remain available.

Dodge's compact coupe and larger sedan are cousins to the Chrysler Sebring. Both Stratus body styles are offered in sporty R/T trim as well as family-focused form.

Redesigned for 2003, the hottest Dodge of them all got a new 500-horsepower V-10 engine, making it the most powerful sports car built by a major American manufacturer. The Viper SRT-10 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds or run from a standstill to 100 mph and back to zero in less than 13 seconds.
