2006 Ford Wiring Diagrams

Ford has a brand-new midsize front-wheel-drive sedan ready for the 2006 model year. Named the Fusion, it's related to the new Mercury Milan and comes with either a four-cylinder engine or a 221-horsepower V-6. Its styling was inspired by Ford's 427 concept car. 

Ford's league-leading midsize sport utility vehicle gets a reworking for 2006 that includes a more powerful V-8 engine and a new six-speed-automatic transmission. Similar to the Mercury Mountaineer, which has also been revamped for 2006, the Explorer comes in four basic flavors. Explorers can be equipped with rear- or four-wheel drive. 

Buyers in search of a traditional full-size car continue to flock to Ford's rear-wheel-drive Crown Victoria sedan. Among the last of its breed, the Crown Victoria holds a 4.6-liter V-8. Mercury offers a higher-priced version called the Grand Marquis. 

Face-lifted for 2005, Ford's smallest sport utility vehicle combines a friendly personality with capable performance and driving ease. A four-cylinder engine is standard, but the Escape can be equipped with a V-6. Mazda's similar Tribute is considered to be the Escape's slightly sportier cousin. A new Escape Hybrid with a gasoline/electric powertrain debuted in the 2005 model year and gains a Premium Package option for 2006. 

Now in its second year of production, Ford's Escape Hybrid adds a reshuffled options package and a new available paint color. Other changes are minimal. 

Ford's full-size, rear-wheel-drive van comes in three capacity levels. A 4.6-liter V-8 is standard for half-ton E-150 and three-quarter-ton E-250 models, and a 5.4-liter V-8 is optional. Heavier-duty (one-ton) E-350 Super Duty models can be equipped with a 6.0-liter diesel engine or a 6.8-liter V-10. Cargo vans are available in all three series, but passenger Wagons come only in E-150 and E-350 Super Duty levels.  

Related to the Lincoln Navigator, the full-size Expedition sport utility vehicle is Ford's biggest and carries up to nine people. All versions use a 5.4-liter V-8, which gained 40 horsepower for 2005. Six trim levels, including a King Ranch edition, are available.  

Ford redesigned its top-selling model for the 2004 model year by giving it a fresh look, stiffer construction and a wider track. Two V-8s are available, and a V-6 serves as the base engine. A limited-edition Harley-Davidson Package, finished in black, is available on 4x2 and all-wheel-drive models for 2006.

Ford's three-quarter-ton pickup truck can handle hauling duties that reach beyond the limits of the half-ton F-150. More-powerful engines and freshened styling marked the revamped 2005 F-250 Super Duty. A new Amarillo Package is available for 2006, and Lariat editions gain more standard equipment. 

Ford's one-ton F-350 Super Duty pickup trucks promise heavier-duty hauling limits than the half-ton F-150 and three-quarter-ton F-250 Super Duty. Freshened styling and more-powerful engines marked the 2005 F-350 Super Duty. A new Amarillo Package is available for 2006, and Lariat models gain more standard equipment. 

The full-size Five Hundred sedan comes with front- or all-wheel drive. Either a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed automatic can be installed. Mercury has a related Montego sedan. A Family Entertainment System is available in 2006 models. 

Offered as a sedan, hatchback and wagon, the European-themed Focus is Ford's smallest and least-expensive model. Face-lifted for 2005, the Focus holds a 136-horsepower engine. A larger, 2.3-liter four-cylinder goes into the ZX4 ST sedan, which borrows some performance suspension components from the extinct SVT Focus. 

New for 2004, Ford's Freestar minivan replaced the Windstar. A flat-folding third-row seat was installed for the first time in a Ford minivan. The Mercury Monterey is similar. Ford has suggested it may halt minivan production after the 2006 model year. 

Ford calls its Freestyle a midsize crossover. Replacing the front-wheel-drive Taurus wagon, the six- or seven-passenger Freestyle promises more SUV-like qualities. It comes with front- or all-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission. A navigation system is available in 2006 models.  

Simply put, the Ford GT is an all-American supercar that was created in homage to the GT40 racecars that dominated competition at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. A supercharged, midmounted V-8 produces 550 horsepower, which is roughly equivalent to the output from the original, larger engine that went into competition GT40 cars. A limited-edition model for 2006 commemorates Ford's 1966 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 

Redesigned for 2005, the current-generation Ford Mustang is larger than the prior model and features styling cues that hark back to the 1967 version. Mustangs have a standard V-6 engine, but the GT holds a 300-horsepower V-8. Occupants get more space than in the previous generation. Coupes and convertibles are offered. 

Buyers of Ford's compact Ranger pickup truck have plenty of available models and extra-cost equipment from which to choose. Rangers are offered with four-cylinder or V-6 power and in regular-cab or SuperCab (extended-cab) form. Mazda's B-Series Trucks are similar. 

Ford's long-lived midsize sedan got a mild face-lift for 2004 and continues into 2006, but the wagon has been dropped. Taurus sedans won't be around much longer either now that Ford is emphasizing its newer Five Hundred model. Mercury has already abandoned its related Sable sedan. Formerly available with a choice of two V-6 engines, the front-wheel-drive Taurus competed against the class-leading Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Only a single engine remains for 2006.
